Team Milk is committed to supporting athletes of all ability levels while offering a safe and secure event for everyone. Accommodations are offered for Athletes with Disabilities (AWD) as outlined on this page. AWD participants must be capable of completing the full race distance within the event time limit requirements.
If you are participating with a wheelchair or guide runner, or have any additional questions, please email us at contact@everywomansmarathon.com and we’ll be happy to help!
event accommodations
This information is for runners (ambulatory) who have a physical, intellectual or vision impairment and will be participating “on foot,” including runners who use prostheses or running blades.

Guide Runner
If you are visually impaired, or your disability or medical condition means you need a support runner, you can request a free spot in the race for them.
All guides must be registered for the race. Please email us at contact@everywomansmarathon.com outlining your request and the reasons for it.
Neurodivergent
If the crowds and noise are overwhelming and you need a calming and soothing spot, we’ll have a quiet space at the expo and Finish Line Festival for neurodivergent participants. Please visit the Information Booth at the venue for details.
Bladder or Bowel Condition
If you have a bladder or bowel condition, an “I Can’t Wait” card explains you have a medical condition and need urgent access to a toilet. Just present this card to the runner at the front of the line to gain access to general toilets, or to a member of our staff to gain private toilet access.
You must have your “I Can’t Wait” card with you during the race weekend. To request a card, email your name and mailing address to membership@crohnscolitisfoundation.org.
ACCESSIBLE AMENITIES
We can accommodate larger items, such as prosthetics, at our gear check on race morning. We’ll also have ADA-compliant toilets at the start line, along the course and at the finish.

Wheelchair participants
If you are participating as a wheelchair participant, you must email contact@everywomansmarathon.com to notify our team and so we can provide some additional details to you about race day.
All wheelchair participants (push-rim, handcycle and duo teams) will start two to three minutes prior to the main race start.
A maximum speed limit for racing wheelchairs will be enforced and controlled by a lead vehicle. There are no awards or prize money for wheelchair athletes.

Push-Rim Athlete
For safety reasons, push-rim wheelchair participants must use a racing wheelchair. A day chair may be used only if fitted with an attachment, such as a freewheel.
Handcycle Athlete
A handcycle provides an alternate means of participation for runners who, due to the nature of their physical impairment, are not able to use a push-rim wheelchair or run with a prosthesis.
To participate using a handcycle, runners must be able to propel themselves through the course unassisted and unaccompanied. In addition:
- Participants must wear a helmet at all times while using the handcycle.
- Participants must have an orange visibility flag on a 5’–6’ flexible pole/stick attached to the handcycle at all times.
- Handcycles with motors or pedals are not permitted. No additional gear-, crank-, or chain-powered cycling equipment may be used by participants, including foot-powered recumbent bikes, tricycles or bicycles.
duo teams
These teams are composed of an athlete with an eligible impairment in a specialized racing wheelchair pushed by one or more able-bodied runners. Participants being pushed in the specialized wheelchair must wear a helmet.
One participant of a duo team must be a paid registrant with an individual race number, while the other member must have a guide. Each team has a max capacity of five participants, including one individual in the chair and four pushers.
All duo team members must be registered for the race. Complimentary entries are available for guides. To participate as part of a duo team and to request complimentary entries for guides, you must email contact@everywomansmarathon.com
